Hamilton is the port city in the western Canadian province of Ontario. It is part of the most industrialized region of Canada. The Steel Capital of Canada is Hamilton-home to two of Canada's largest steelmakers Stelco and Dofasco, which produce 60 percent of Canada's steel [1].
According to the zoning bylaw of the city 6593 [2], there are four Industrial districts in the city:
J District- Light and limited heavy industry
JJ District- Restricted light industrial district
K District-Heavy industrial district
KK District- Restricted heavy industrial district
Industrial Classes:
Following is the intent of the industrial districts:
J District- Light and limited heavy industry:
This district is intended for small metal-wares factories, wood products factories, sawmill or planing mill, ceramic, pharmaceuticals, and Textile products manufacturing.
JJ District- Restricted light industrial district:
This district is intended for lumber yards, grain elevators, truck transport yards, warehouses, building contractor's yards, and auto body shops.
K District- Heavy industrial district:
This district is intended for uses that are not permitted in the J district such as tannery, tallow rendering plants, waste transfer facilities, aquaponics facilities, etc.
KK District- Restricted heavy industrial district:
This district is intended for salvage yard, stockyard, fuel storage tank, and spray paint shop. All uses permitted in JJ districts are also permitted in the KK district.
Most of the industrial yards are located on the port in industrial sectors of A to F and K to N. Industrial areas can also be found in the locality of Stoney creek in Rymal.
The maximum building height should be 37 m.
The maximum building coverage should be 85% of the lot area.
The maximum building height should be 17 m.
The front yard should be at least 6m.
No side and rear yard is required

Constriction yards: They can be located on 190 Lanark St, 61 Burford Rd, 786 Burlington St E, 125 Stapleton Ave, and 1901 Barton St E.
Salvage Yards: They can be located on 610 Beach Rd, 442 Seaman St, 3 Birmingham St,
Automobile industry: They can be located in great numbers in areas surrounding Barton St SE, Kenora Ave, Bancroft St. They are also located on 401 Lake Ave N and 510 S Service Rd.
Manufacturing yards: Huge metal manufacturing yards can be located on 1640 Brampton St and 419 Parkdale Ave N. Various manufacturing yards can also be located on Burlington St SE, Sherman Ave N, Birmingham St., Nikola Tesla Blvd., Steel city street, and Industrial Dr.
